Purplle is a marketplace focused on personal care, founded in 2012 by Manish Taneja and Rahul Dash. Catering to the B2C sector. Purplle is an online beauty and personal care platform that offers a wide range of products from various brands, catering to the diverse needs of consumers. Purplle achieved a valuation of $1.1 billion by 2022.





Problem

Consumers in India lacked access to a wide range of beauty products, particularly outside of metro cities, where availability was limited, and offline retailers dominated.


Purplle Solution

Purplle built an online beauty and cosmetics marketplace offering a vast range of beauty products from both global and local brands, making them accessible across India.


Initial Users & Marketing Hack

Purplle targeted young, beauty-conscious consumers in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities who sought access to affordable beauty products. The platform grew through influencer marketing on social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube. They also used referral programs and personalized recommendations to engage users and boost conversions.
